Indonesian Furniture Exports to the UAE Has Positive Growths at Dubai Expo

In the period 2019-2023, Indonesia's furniture exports to the UAE grew positively with an average growth rate of 15.35% and this opportunity is expected to continue to expand.

According to the Indonesian Trade Ministry, Indonesian furniture products worth 6.11 millions USD were sold during the INDEX exhibition in Dubai, that took places from 4 to 6 June 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This transaction value was more than 5 times fold higher compared to US$1.1 million in the previous year.

Dewi Rokhayati, the ministry's director of export development for manufactured products said that Indonesian furniture products are still favored by the Middle East and Africa. The products that were in demand included console tables, chairs, and stools made of wood and rattan, rattan baskets, wall decorations, wooden outdoor furniture, decorative accessories, and kitchen equipment, she informed.

On the first day of the exhibition, Indonesian Pavilion participants and UAE buyers signed two trade agreements worth of 648 thousands USD for stools, tables, and decorations made from teak wood; outdoor furniture; rattan furniture; as well as hanging lamps, Rokhayati added.

According to the head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) - Dubai, Widy Haryono, opportunities for Indonesian furniture exports to the UAE can be increased. By the first quarter of 2024, the exports of Indonesian furniture to the UAE reached 3.06 millions USD.

The trade between Indonesia and the UAE in Q1 2024 was recorded at 1.60 billions USD total in value, an increase of 9.54% compared to the same period of 2023.
