Canadian Wood Expands Presence in Vietnam’s Sustainable Furniture Market

Ho Chi Minh City - Canadian Wood is stepping up efforts to promote sustainable, certified wood products in Vietnam’s fast-growing furniture industry. Through active participation in major trade events like HAWA Expo and VIFA Expo 2025, Canadian Wood Vietnam is connecting local manufacturers with high-quality, eco-friendly wood from Canada’s sustainably managed forests.

HAWA Expo and VIFA Expo are two of the largest annual trade shows in Vietnam’s wood and furniture sector, attracting global exhibitors and buyers. At this year’s HAWA Expo, Canadian Wood Vietnam collaborated with several leading local furniture exporters, including Minh Tiến, Phú Khang Phát, Chấn Hưng, and Tường An. These companies are participants in the Canadian Wood Trial Program, which offers technical support and Canadian wood materials for product development and export.

At VIFA Expo 2025, Canadian Wood Vietnam showcased a dedicated display space featuring furniture collections made from five signature Canadian wood species: Western Hemlock, Douglas-fir, Western Red Cedar, Yellow Cedar, and SPF (Spruce-Pine-Fir). The exhibit also featured a color swatch wall, presenting a range of wood finishes from warm, rustic tones to bright, modern hues — highlighting Canadian wood’s versatility and superior finishing qualities.

Industry experts note that as Vietnam targets USD 18 billion in wood and furniture exports by 2025, demand for sustainable and legally sourced materials is rising. In 2024, Vietnam’s wood and furniture exports reached USD 16.25 billion, a 20% increase from the previous year, reinforcing its position as a global furniture production hub.

“Sustainable, certified wood is now a key requirement for international buyers,” a Canadian Wood Vietnam representative said. “Canadian wood meets the strictest global certification standards, including PEFC and FSC, ensuring legal, high-quality, and environmentally responsible supply options for Vietnamese manufacturers.”

Canada is home to nearly 41% of the world’s certified forest area, making it a reliable source of sustainably harvested timber. Since its establishment in Vietnam in 2018, Canadian Wood has focused on providing technical training, market development programs, and promotional initiatives to support the local industry’s transition toward greener practices.

Participation in trade shows like HAWA Expo and VIFA Expo is part of Canadian Wood Vietnam’s annual strategy to promote sustainable wood solutions and foster stronger partnerships with Vietnamese manufacturers. The organization remains committed to supporting the industry’s growth while encouraging a shift toward certified, eco-friendly materials for global markets.
